What are we really talking about here? Are we talking about a hair mask? Are we talking about a Hair oil treatment over night? Are we talking
about a hair bonnet? Or perhaps just castor oil over night? So lets break it down.
Hair Mask
Many are going to making masks for themselves now and want to know if they work. I was keen to research this one I wanted to know this also.
I was looking at what ingredients are used with the homemade hair mask, Bananas, avocado, eggs, coconut oil, honey, essential oil, brown sugar, apple cider, lemon, olive oil aloe vera, so I had to look deeper what did they help with?
- Coconut Oil: Deeply moisturises and adds shine.
- Honey: A humectant that locks in moisture and softens hair.
- Yogurt: Contains lactic acid, which can help treat dull and damaged hair.
- Avocado: Rich in fatty acids and vitamins, nourishes and repairs hair.
- Eggs: High in protein, helping to strengthen and add shine.
- Aloe Vera: Soothes the scalp and promotes shine.
- Banana: Conditions and hydrates hair, reducing frizz.
- Olive Oil: Locks in moisture and prevents dryness.
- Lemon: Can absorb excess oil and add bounce to hair.
- Apple Cider Vinegar: Helps seal the hair cuticle, adding shine and smoothness.
- Brown Sugar: Exfoliates the scalp, removing buildup.
- Essential Oils (Peppermint, Tea Tree): Can promote circulation and have anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties.
Next i got recipes, so wow, this is gold recipes to help our hair with goods we have at home, awesome. My I am going to try some
as some I use. I use Apple cider, lemon, coconut oil, essential oils, I sometimes wash my hair with Castile and rosemary so I have this one
sorted. Aloe vera check, its in my hair oil. I would like to add rosemary helps with alot also, I bet many of you reading know this one.
Example Mask Recipes:
- For Dry Hair: Combine 1/2 cup yogurt, 1 tablespoon honey, and 1 teaspoon coconut oil.
- For Damaged Hair: Mix 1 egg, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and 1 tablespoon of honey.

- For Frizz: Blend a ripe banana with a tablespoon of olive oil.
- For Shine: Mix 1/2 cup of plain yogurt, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of coconut oil, and the juice of 1 lemon.
So suggest to massage and rub into scalp then leave in overnight and use a cap. Wash out in morning. So Love to hear your feedback. This is research only at this point, I believe many of these would work, I also saw their are paid jars and bits you can buy in masks. To me anything that helps with hair can be good. I also saw in my research some of these combinations can help hair growth.
Coconut Oil, yoghurt, Lemon and egg was the suggestion for hair growth, i am going to give this one a whirl. I created my hair growth oil because I needed it, it works but hey I need every bit of help I can get. Also there was a women I follow she said you cannot say just one thing helps. You need to think internal and external.
Hair Oils
Yes I know these work, I know some say they are greasy and there is a battle with makers on which oils to use. I tend to get myself in trouble here as I am a advocate for Castor oil, formulators turn their noses up often as its not light and perfect. However that’s not why I choose it, I choose it because it is anti inflammatory and healing. It goes beyond the skin and when they can show me an oil that can do this I may change my mind on not to use it. Hair oils work by high moisturisation and what they put together. A combination is often used, the reasoning is fair, to be a good result for what the product is trying to achieve.
You may know I have a Hair repair Oil, this Oil was created for healing hair and scalp, for high moisturisation. For someone with dandruff or issues on scalp. No essential oils so someone with eczema or someone with psoriasis has a option which has been hard for them before. However its also good for someone with damaged hair from dying, aloe vera is great for hair and well worth understanding why. My reason for sharing this is these protocols if given time have a chance to really soak and moisturise and overnight is a good amount of time. However most have a day of activities so wish to wash it out, this is good, and then you find out how your hair feels after.
One thing that is quite obvious with all the overnight hair care trends is massage will always work well with whatever you try.
Also another point was big huge savings making masks from home that work. How wonderful is this? If we can find more like this how empowering is this? Thats all from me for now, till next time, have a amazing hair day.
